A new analysis shows that most overlapping surgeries are safe, with no greater risk for complications or patient death. Slight elevation in mortality and complications were found among high-risk patients and those undergoing coronary-artery bypass surgeries. Overlapping surgeries had greater procedure duration than nonoverlapping surgeries.
